Payment & Refund Policy

Last updated: 2025/10/31

This Payment and Refund Policy applies to all services and transactions conducted through masterlygun.ca and directly with Masterly Gun (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

The project is considered started (placed) once the firearm has been dropped off, or a deposit has been paid, or an invoice has been issued, or a project start date has been confirmed by Masterly Gun — whichever occurs first.
By placing an order, you agree to the terms below.

1. Deposits and Payment Terms
  • A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total quoted price is required before any work begins.

  • This deposit secures your place in our schedule and covers materials, preparation, and initial labor.

  • The remaining balance is due upon completion and before pickup or delivery, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Accepted payment methods: e-transfer or cash only.

2. Custom and Restoration Work

All work performed by Masterly Gun — including gunstock making, checkering, and firearm restoration — is custom and individually crafted for each firearm.
Because of the personalized nature of our work:

  • No refunds or cancellations are accepted once work has started or materials have been ordered.

  • Minor variations in wood grain, colour tone, or texture are natural and not grounds for refund or complaint.

  • We reserve the right to substitute equal or higher-grade materials if necessary to achieve the best results.

3. Warranty and Limitations

All services include a 30-day workmanship warranty from the date of pickup or delivery.
This warranty covers only craftsmanship defects directly related to the work performed by Masterly Gun.
The warranty does not cover:

  • Damage caused by moisture, water, or improper storage.

  • Rust or corrosion, particularly on blued or metal surfaces.

  • Damage from use, handling, accidents, neglect, or unauthorized modifications.

  • Natural changes in wood due to humidity, temperature, or age.
Any rust or corrosion caused by moisture or water contact voids the bluing warranty immediately.

4. Refunds and Cancellations

Because all projects are custom-made, refunds are not available after work begins.
Refunds are issued only if Masterly Gun cannot complete the project for reasons beyond our control (for example, unavailable materials or business closure).
In such cases, only the unused portion of payments (excluding the non-refundable deposit and costs of materials already purchased or work performed) will be refunded.
Refunds, if applicable, will be processed within 30 days of written notice from Masterly Gun.

5. Non-Responsive or No-Show Customers

When we notify you in writing that your project is complete and ready for pickup or delivery, you must arrange pickup and pay the outstanding balance.
If we request input needed to continue (such as measurements, finish colour, or wood selection), you must respond promptly.
If you fail to respond or pick up your firearm within six months of written notification, or fail to provide required decisions or approvals within three months, the project will be considered abandoned and cancelled for non-performance by the customer.
Because Masterly Gun does not provide long-term firearm storage, after six months of written notification, we may, at our discretion, sell the firearm or completed work to recover costs, or dispose of it safely according to legal requirements.
We will make reasonable attempts to contact you (via email, phone, or other provided methods) before any disposal or sale.

6. Protection Against Unfounded Claims

By commissioning work, you acknowledge that every project is unique and involves natural materials and hand craftsmanship.
Complaints based on subjective preferences (such as tone, texture, grain, or finish appearance) are not accepted as defects.
Changes requested after work begins may incur additional fees.
Claims of dissatisfaction must be submitted in writing within the 30-day warranty period and supported by clear evidence, such as photos.
Masterly Gun reserves the right to refuse refunds or credits for claims inconsistent with the agreed-upon work order or resulting from misuse, poor maintenance, or environmental factors.

7. Liability Disclaimer

All firearms must be delivered unloaded and comply with Canadian firearm regulations.
Masterly Gun is not responsible for shipping or handling damage before or after service, modifications, or misuse by third parties, or the firearm’s mechanical operation or safety, unless explicitly serviced for that purpose.

8. Photography and Display Rights

By commissioning Masterly Gun, you grant permission for photographs of your firearm and the restoration process to be used on our website, social media, and portfolio to showcase our craftsmanship, unless you opt out in writing.
Identifying details will be removed or obscured.

9. Disputes and Jurisdiction

We aim to resolve disputes amicably and directly.
If an issue cannot be resolved, this policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
Customers may seek independent legal advice for unresolved matters.
